The Parish of St. John the Baptist, San Lorenzo, under the leadership of Pastor Fr. Mike Lacey and the Pastoral Council, proposes to improve the area surrounding the Church. In keeping with the vision of the parish as a welcoming community, the plan is to create spaces conducive to community gathering before and after mass and provide areas for services, informal meetings and places conducive to reflection and prayer outside of the church. At the same time, certain structures of St. John, primarily the church building, needs seismic retrofit work.
The planned improvements consist of:- New layout of the front porch and steps to compensate for the property acquired by the PWACA for widening of Lewelling Boulevard.
- Construction of a paved walkway along the west and east sides of the church
- Relocation of the bell to a more prominent spot
- Re-striping of the parking areas and re-routing of traffic lanes

ChurchRendition.pdfSome of the funding will come from the compensation for the acquisition of property by the Alameda County for widening of Lewelling Boulevard. The balance of funds will come from contributions and various fund raising.
At this time there is no set schedule for the Church Improvement Project. Some of the work will be in conjunction with the Lewelling Widening Project and the rest is still in the concept stage.
